Yo Frank,

Can we be friends? like proper tight?

I’m coming Coachella next week. see you then.

We shot some more footage for our documentary with Robert Montgomery today, and it went very well. We’ve shot all the interviews, so now we’ve got a billboard installation, and a trip to Berlin to look forward to.

The main man, James and his lady friend, Katie.

We made some homemade chips, eggs and gammon.

It was unreal

COACHELLA!!!!

My cousin messaged me four days ago, he had a spare ticket to Coachella and wanted me to come. After an hour or umming and ahhing, I decided I’d go, once in a lifetime opportunity and all that. One look at the lineup gets me soooo excited.

The Black Keys, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, WU LYF, Bon Iver, A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino, Snoop and Dre, Justice, The Weeknd, Girl Talk, Santigold, and way more that could make that week the best of my life…

Damn

We did our first full day of shooting for our documentary yesterday. It was a really chilled day, with some casual interviews, and Robert & Lucy tidying up some wood for his next exhibition. Here’s Robert and Lucy working in the studio on a piece for an exhibition in Paris.

Kony

This whole Kony 2012 thing is really pissing me off. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a bad guy, and obviously needs to be stopped, but killing this guy isn’t going to solve anything, because what’s likely to happen is someone else will just step up and take his place. It’s not so much the flawed campaign that annoys me, its the people on social networking sites acting like they care and that they’ve done a good deed by hitting the ‘share’ or ‘retweet’ button.

I honestly think that half, probably more, of the people posting and sharing the video are doing so to come across as a good guy, or girl, and to look as though they’ve done their bit in catching this guy. It reminds me of when a famous person dies, and suddenly everyone is/was their biggest fan. ‘ooohh I love Whitney Houston, I have all her albums’. I’m sure you did…

It’s come to my attention that the company behind this movement, Invisible Children, spent almost $9million last year, with only 31% going towards their charity program. Which in its self is outrageous. The rest of the money was spent on filmmaking and raising awareness for the organisation. The charity intend to give the money they raise from this campaign to the government and army of Uganda. The president is responsible for millions of deaths, and the army has been accused of raping and looting Ugandan communities on a regular basis. Sounds like a foolproof plan, right?

Any military efforts to find this man will result in hundreds of children being attacked from both sides – why on Earth are Invisible Children aiming straight for military intervention, without even considering peaceful interaction and discussion, as HAS happened in the past?

Raising awareness of these evil people is good, of course it is, but pushing a charity that was recently had their accountability rated at 2/4 stars because they haven’t had their finances externally audited is in my opinion dangerous, especially when you consider where this money is going, and what it could mean for Kony’s child army. I’m staying well clear of these ‘action kits’.

Some stills from the documentary I’m currently producing, on the work of Robert Montgomery.
The first day of shooting went great. We’ll be getting more footage in the next month or so, which will include a trip to Berlin. This will be the first time I’ve shot something abroad, which is really exciting!
